The most-searched question about Plitvice is also the one this site had never answered head-on: what do tickets cost and how do you actually get them. The honest answer starts with a recommendation that earns us nothing.

The prices, and where to buy them

The park’s own webshop at np-plitvicka-jezera.hr sells timed-entry tickets at face value with no service fee, and the 2026 scale runs strongly seasonal: about €10 in winter (November–March), €23.50 in the shoulder months (April–May and October), and €40 in peak summer (June–September). Ages 7–18 pay roughly half; under-7s enter free. If you have a car, flexible dates and the discipline to book ahead, buy there - that’s the whole honest sentence.

The two mechanics that catch people

Every entry is timed. Your ticket carries a one-hour arrival window, and arriving after it closes risks being turned away at the gate - this is enforced, not theoretical. And daily numbers are capped. In peak season the morning windows - the ones worth having, before the boardwalks jam - routinely sell out days and even weeks ahead, partly because tour allocations absorb them. The €40 peak ticket is the easy part; the 8am window is the scarce commodity.

When the day-trip route honestly wins

If you’re based in Zagreb, Split or Zadar without a car - or your dates are locked and the webshop’s morning windows are gone - the guided day trips carry their own entry allocations along with the transport problem this park otherwise poses (it sits two hours from everywhere). The Zagreb version with the Rastoke stop is the one the numbers pick: 4.9/5 across 3,540 bookings.
